ATHLETICS: The Grit and Joy of Winter Sport

It has been a month of fantastic action for our Brentwood teams. From showcase events to championship runs, our competitive programs are hitting their stride.

Hockey Showcase

On January 25, the arena atmosphere was electric for our annual showcase against Shawnigan. Our Girls Program continued its impressive momentum with a definitive win, followed by a Senior team thriller that went to 3-on-3 overtime. A beautiful game-winning goal sealed the victory for Brentwood, living up to every bit of the hype. Next up: The Ross Cup (Feb 18–20).

Basketball Fever

Junior Boys: Made history by winning Gold at the Island Championship—a feat accomplished only once before in school history. They now head to Provincials in Langley (Feb 20–24).
Junior Girls: Displayed incredible grit, winning the Mid-Island League and qualifying for Islands.
Senior Boys: Fresh off a North Island Championship win, they host the 3A Island Championship this weekend. Watch the action via our livestream.

Rowing & Climbing Brentwood hosted 360 competitors for the fourth annual Kraken Erg competition. In a grueling display of fitness, 75 students (and some very brave staff) competed, concluding with a Senior Interhouse battle where Mack/Ellis took the win by a razor-thin 0.1 seconds. Additionally, our climbers took 1st in the Women’s Experienced category and 2nd in the Men’s during our 3rd annual ISA competition.

As we look toward Term 3, we are ready for the sunshine to return to our fields and waterfront.
