It was a great weekend for the senior boys at the Brentwood Regatta. Winning gold were the Jr. A coxed quad (Jack K, Ruben S, Martin B, Lance B and Andrew C) and the Jr. A double (Ruben S and Martin B). The Sr. Boys’ 4x+ (and the Varsity 8+) have received an invitation to the spectacular and prestigious Opening Day in Seattle this Saturday. The 4x+ will launch from the UW boathouse and race at 10:48 am.
Winning silver were the Jr. A 4+ (Jack K, Cameron Y, Andrew C, Lance B and Dan H) and the School 8+ (Jack K, Lance B, Martin B, Cameron Y, Andrew C, Ruben S, Toby G, Jason M and Dan H). We won bronze in the Jr. A 3V 8+ (Cam V, Dylan G, Stuart W, Greg W, Michael M, Wesley D, Ben H, Dan R, Bryce N) which was composed of members of the First XV who all rowed in grades 9 or 10.
Finishing 4th in the Jr. A JV 4x+ was Paiton B, Sean H, Brett L, Michael L and Channing B. The same crew was 5th in the Jr. A 72kg 4+. They teamed up with Dylan G, Alex P, Chan P and Tristan K to place 6th in the Jr. A 72kg 8+. Our Jr. A Novice 4x+ of Andrew Y, Yannick H, Roberto C.M. and Daniel H.M. placed 6th in the final.
The top finish for the Junior Boys was a silver medal in the Jr. B 8+. The crew of Joel B, Nick R, Ian S, Blaine W, Jon H, Toby D, Hayden F, Harrison B and Nick W, after posting the fastest time in the heats, finished 3 seconds behind Vancouver College. Other medals were two bronzes in the Jr. B 4+ (Joel B, Nick R, Ian S, Blaine W, and Toby D) and the Jr. B 72kg 4+ (Joel B, Blaine W, Toby D, Harrison B and Liam K). The Jr. B 2X of Nick R and Ian S finished 4th, and the Jr. B Novice 8+ of Rielly M, Jon H, Nick W, Hayden F, Nick W, Jeff L, Daniel KBR, Shawn H and Woody L ended up in 5th place.
In girls’ racing the Jr. B 4+ of Caroline C, Spencer M, Tamsyn C, Stacey K and Ailish T won their heat and captured a bronze medal in the final. The Sr. 2x of Claire V and Deirdre H placed 2nd in their final.
As a club, we finished 6th of 41 clubs and first in the School’s division. On the boys side we finished 4th overall and 1st among the schools.
