2017-18 was magical: we sailed through ups & downs, conflict & laughter. In the process of building life-long friendships, we learned to reflect, communicate & compromise. We learned to love & how to express our love. In September, we opened our arms to 27 new students. Although Orientation was hectic, girls immersed themselves in the inclusive, caring Hope culture. Fun & Games, & the rest of the year’s Interhouse events, allowed new students to experience thrilling competition & develop a sense of pride in and belonging to Hope.  As the days grew darker & rainier, we cuddled in the common rooms & watched movies. Romantic comedies were popular. Envious of the romance on screen, we screamed when young actors ‘accidentally’ revealed their six-packs. With workloads piling on top of us, we whined, stressed and regretted. We shared our stupidity & laughter with one another, and cheered and supported each other. Being together is the best stress-coping strategy we could have.  Accompanied by jingle bells, we welcomed Winter Break. Girls panicked to pack & clean for the Epic #1. In Hope tradition, we celebrated the end of a wonderful Fall with a party at Birds Eye Cove. Genuinely grateful sentiments were delivered to our advisors and Secret Santas were revealed, our intense curiosity relieved.  In March, we welcomed the birth of Margot Teresa Amiel, an angel who arrived with all our blessings. We surprised Mrs Amiel with a simple, cozy baby shower filled with balloons and cupcakes, and her appreciation made all of the efforts worthwhile. Time flies in the blink of an eye. Sitting at the bonfire and shedding my tears, I realize that this year has come to an end. Prefects serve the house with passion and enthusiasm, and have no doubt that the service-oriented nature of Hope will continue to be cultivated by future house leaders. As a House Captain, I feel love and pride for members of Hope; these girls have helped me to be proud of my true self. Vivian Fang, House Captain
