Hope House Report

As I reflect upon this school year, I realize how lucky I am to have been the leader of such a fantastic group of Hopelings. It seems like only a few months ago when I was running around Hope trying to introduce myself to all the new faces at Orientation. Per tradition, we broke the ice with a classic round of painfully awkward speed dating with Privett followed by some more games. Not only that, but we demonstrated our promising Interhouse performance at Fun & Games and Eco-Challenge.

The halls were filled with new students who chaotically raced to be in bed on time when, more often than not, they wouldn’t make it. A key point of bonding this year was Airband which proved to be, once again, Hope-Privett’s strong suit as we put on unbeatable performances. Shout out to the Hope Juniors for obliterating the competition and carrying the Privett boys.

By the time the new students figured out the routine of bedtimes – and fewer defaulters were being given out – it was time for the Polar Bear Swim. This year the Prefects decided to wake up early and gather not only the largest speakers, but also the loudest pots and pans we could find to wake up every room in the house. Along with this, we had many memories that made us, as a house, embody our values.

With this being one of the most unexpected years for Hope House, I am so proud of each and every one of us for creating such an inclusive and kind house culture. Of course, this couldn’t have been done without the support and hard work of our Houseparents, Ms Hedquist and Mr DeSandoli, BFA Myr Pasquale, and the rest of the Hope staff.

For Lily,
We have a saying in Hope House, “Never leave a Hopeling behind”, and Lily is no exception. Although she may no longer be with us physically, the memories we carry and the memories the walls of Hope House carry, will live on endlessly. Lily will always be remembered in Hope House. She will forever be a Hopeling.
