It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane, It’s the Mack-Ellis Prefect Outing to Flying Squirrel

The Prefects of Mackenzie and Ellis Houses embarked on their first outing as a group to a trampoline park on Friday, October 24, 2025. The bus ride there was filled with singing, games, and music brought to you by Tom C, Ellis ‘26. We arrived safely and promptly at the Flying Squirrel in Langford, and off we flew. 

The frogs and unicorns of Mack and Ellis leapt into action, exploring all the facilities had to offer. For some, it was a first: “Jumping on the trampoline for the first time was scary, but I’m happy I learned how to bounce! I wanna thank the Mack girls for being so warm and welcoming,” stated Aanish T, Ellis ‘26. 

Flying Squirrel had a variety of trampolines, exhilarating foam pits, and competitive dodgeball and basketball arenas. The Prefects began with a crazy game of dodgeball with coed teams. “Dodgeball made me realize how close we have become with our brother house” Nev K, Mackenzie ‘26, exclaimed. It was truly heartwarming to see the bonding happening within this group of Prefects. 

There were also people playing basketball and dunking hoops with Assistant Head Prefect, Athletics Jaxen L, Ellis ‘26. “It was a great time bonding with Mack! I loved dunking and, more importantly, getting time off campus” chirped House Captain William L, Ellis ‘26. It is so important for brother-sister houses to come together and bond, not only to build important connections but also to help the house get a good standing in the Brentwood Interhouse Competition. 

After an hour of jumping, the Prefects were all worn out, leaving with big smiles and long-lasting memories. But the fun did not stop there. Mack-Ellis’ Prefects headed to Dairy Queen for a tasty treat. Blizzards and ice cream treats can never go wrong. Amelia S, Mackenzie ‘26 shared, “Getting ice cream with Ellis afterwards was the best part! It was a highlight of the year already for me.” The group sat together and discussed the gruelling topic of how to win the Interhouse trophy again. Go Mack Ellis! 

Mr Mark Wismer stated, “This group of Prefects was the most bonded group I have seen in a long time. This event was a huge success!”

A huge thank you goes out to Houseparents Mrs Sue Chueng and Mr Mark Wismer for organizing the logistics. Additionally, credit the student leadership from the two houses for coming up with the idea. Thank you to Ms Sarah Crisp for organizing the transportation and ensuring each student’s safety. 

It was a very successful event, and everyone who attended left content.
