Junior B boys basketball – Mid Island League Champions

The Junior B boys basketball team put the finishing touches on their 7-1 season record by capturing the Junior B Mid-Island league championship this past Thursday. The team, consisting mainly of grade 9 players along with a few grade 10’s, entered the season with a variety of backgrounds in basketball. Along the way the team suffered their only defeat at the hands of Dwight International School by a score of 32-33 and finished first in a three team tournament at Prevost. Entering the league playoffs ranked second overall, the team faced the #1 ranked Dwight in the finals. Both teams started out tentatively and it wasn’t until the second quarter when Brentwood went on a 16-6 run that the game opened up. The 33-28 victory demonstrated the developing skills of many of the players. Performances of note in the final game included the offensive contributions of Benson C and Austin G with 12 and 8 points respectively and the defensive presence of Aaron A-E who pulled in 9 rebounds to go with his 3 steals. We look forward to continuing to work with this group of basketball players during the third term as we focus on refining their skills in anticipation for next season.
