Let the Games Begin
The weekend of Sept. 17-18 will see Brentwood’s sporting season kick off with soccer, field hockey and volleyball teams commencing competition. The Senior Boys First 11 will travel south to Victoria for the ISA soccer championships Friday and Saturday. Friday will see them play three games: 12pm v Collingwood at St. Michaels University School; 3pm v Glenlyon at Glenlyon Norfolk; 4:30pm v WPGA at Glenlyon. Saturday begins with a game v SMUS B at 10:30 am. No vuvuzelas required!
Meanwhile, back in the Cowichan Valley, the Senior Girls field hockey team will test their mettle against many of the Island’s best as they compete in the annual Friendship Cup. These matches will be played at the Cowichan Sportsplex Saturday at 10:00am v Cowichan; 1:00pm v SMUS; 4:00pm v Oak Bay. Sunday’s first game is v Kelsey at 9:30 am.
The Senior Girls volleyball squad will bump into action Friday afternoon and Saturday at a tournament hosted by Nanaimo’s Dover Bay. Before the last whistle sounds and the balls have been put away, Mr. Pennells will lead the AP biologists to the Bamfield Marine Station for several days of university level, hands-on learning. More on that saltwater adventure next week.
