Let’s Bust Cancer – One Ribbon at a Time

This past Friday, the Brentwood population came to classes adorned in pink – from pants to dresses to onesies – showing their support for finding a cure for cancer. “We are determined to ‘bust cancer’ and full of hope to have a future where our mothers, grandmothers, sisters, and daughters will live without breast cancer” said Brentwood organizer Mrs. Andrea Felix, a cancer survivor. Some students also took the opportunity to donate while still appearing in class in their daily uniform, with a pink breast cancer ribbon pinned to their shirt. “It’s got nothing to do with the fact that we don’t have to wear our uniform,” I heard a student say. “It’s about donating and sharing our awareness with those around us.” On Friday we were able to raise almost $800 towards cancer research. A solid sea of pink was seen on campus and it just goes to show how much the students here care about finding a cure for cancer. Whether it be from a personal experience or just a loving heart, I think it’s unanimous when I say that here at Brentwood, we care about those around us, battling all varieties of cancer. This Sunday, October 6, over 190 students and staff from Brentwood will be bussing down to UVIC to participate in The Run for the Cure, running as part of the Brentwood Busts Cancer team.
