Mini Masterpieces: Alex House Pumpkin Decorating

Even though the spooky spectacles of Halloween have faded with the completion of this week’s past midterm – a few symbols of the festive season still endure to hold onto the last tidings of Halloween. The week before Halloween, Alexandra House celebrated by having a pumpkin-decorating competition with mini pumpkins. Demonstrating their creative skill, and using only materials that they could get themselves, the girls transformed pumpkins into everything from cats to miniature representatives of cartoon characters. Some particularly skilled pumpkin artists attempted to carve the tiny pumpkins, a difficult feat considering their size. The others customized with glitter, paint, glue, and other craft supplies. The pumpkins were judged in Big-Little Sister groups – the winners from each group received a Halloween treat. A champion was then chosen from the winners of each group. Brooke M won with her miniature replica of Mike Wazowski from Monsters Inc. All the pumpkins were then put on display on the steps of Alex House for passersby to enjoy. What a treat. No tricks.
