Monster Erg Indoor Rowing Championships at the University of Victoria

On Sunday, the Rowing Club entered a full contingent in the Monster Erg Indoor Rowing Championships. This is a race on the rowing ergometers of either 1000 or 2000 m, with crews from the Island and Lower Mainland competing in the event. The morning began with our Masters (coaches) racing in a team event. Mr. Felix, Mr. Backer and Mr. Griffiths won the mens race and Mrs. Steinbrink-Kelly, Mrs. Griffiths, Mrs. Day Reynolds and Mrs. Backer were second in the Masters Womens race. The highlights of the subsequent student races were: Senior Girls: Quinn Erickson, 2nd
Senior Girls Lightweight: Claire Rawlinson, 2nd; Rona Mitchell, 3rd
Junior Men: Adam Galbraith, 4th
Junior Women: Stephanie Ridenour, 2nd; Deirdre Huestis, 3rd
Junior Novice Men (team): Daniel Robinson and Gregory Willick, 1st
Coxswain’s Crawl (500 m): Rianne Pater, 1st; Ginny Reynolds, 3rd. These results will now be combined with other races from the rest of Canada; the crowning of the national champions will take place later this week.
