October ’26 Arts Beat
As summer slides into autumn on campus, students are busily engaged in many arts projects and preparations for upcoming events and shows this term.
The debaters participate in the British Parliamentary Provincials online this week, while the Model UN group returned from GMUN Saturday with awards to show for it:
- Advanced: Zach E—best delegate; Fong L—outstanding delegate
- Intermediate: Finn L—outstanding delegate
- Beginner: Chris W—outstanding delegate
The Aspengrove Robotics Qualification for the Provincials tournament is on the horizon.
Our Grade 8s are in the final stages of their production of Aladdin Jr. for next month.
Arts Captains have been selected and recognized at an Assembly. Visual Arts Captains are now supporting their teachers in getting ready for the Overtures Art Show and selecting individual artists to present their work to the School at upcoming Assemblies.
Musically, the R&B Band, along with one of our Rock Band groups, performed well at the Canadian Thanksgiving Cabaret (thank you, Kiona W, for the photo). Looking ahead, R&B will perform at the intermissions for TEDxBrentwood: Joy (TEDx livestream available here– real-time viewing ONLY) and will enter the CBC Music Class Challenge via video submission. With the Remembrance Day Service and Concert for a Winter’s Eve also upcoming, ensembles and individual musicians and vocalists are heating up their instruments and voices for a seasonally inspired concert!
Tickets are available for the Dec. 5 Concert for a Winter’s Eve performance, with proceeds going to the local CMS Food Bank across the road from our campus; please check our online box office.
Seat sales are also open now for the School’s early spring Musical Theatre showcase of the year: Footloose.
Halloween is around the corner, and students have been invited to participate in a wonderful creative workshop, as shown below. Please encourage your child to show up, lean in, and savour every moment of Brentwood Arts this year.
