The Senior Play has been cast. The very funny actor, Steve Martin, wrote a comedy, “Picasso at the Lapin Agile” and the Fine Arts department is producing his play in April. Mrs. Quinton is excited to begin rehearsals with her talented cast of newcomers to the stage and returning students.  This long running Off-Broadway absurdist comedy places Albert Einstein (Derek A) and Pablo Picasso (Zaid K) in a Parisian cafe in 1904, just before the renowned scientist transformed physics with his theory of relativity and the celebrated painter set the art world afire with cubism. In his first comedy for the stage, Martin plays fast and loose with fact, fame and fortune as these two geniuses muse on the century’s achievements and prospects as well as other current events and celebrities.  Bystanders, including Picasso’ agent (David M), the bartender (Cam W/Femi R-A) and his mistress (Sarah F/Deborah C), Picasso’s date (Suzy T), an elderly philosopher (Michael G), an idiot inventor, Charles Dabernow Schmendimen (Julian H) and Einstein’s date, the Countess (Holly C-H) contribute a never-ending stream of hilarious opinions on all topics. The final surprise patron to join the merriment at the Lapin Agile is handsome rock and roll singer (Antony V) time warped in from the future. We’ll see you in April.
