For the Grade 12s of Rogers, our year has come to an end. June was our last month of walking through these doors as students – now we leave as Alumni. No more trips to the galley late at night, no more walking on the original 70s patterned carpet, or seeing our beloved Roger’s boys all in one place. During the three years I have been here, we have lost many iconic faces: Louis Barry, Ferdinand Schultz, Antonio Caraza. Though I never want to forget these boys, I feel our best batch of kids came in our final year. Since Orientation, Rogers House has been filled with joyful, charming, and enthusiastic kids, each one different from the next. Everyone is so lively in the house from cooking, watching sports gathered around the common room, or gaming & pool down below. Boys have formed bonds that go beyond friendship and have become part of the Roger’s family. They’ve stood together through thick and thin helping each other through many tough decisions and issues. The best advice, however, have definitely come from our Duty Staff. They were our guardians and protectors: whenever we are in need they were there. Mr Armitage, Mr Griffiths, Mr Langer, and, occasionally, Mrs Whitney were the recurring faces that blessed these halls on our duty night and helped build a work ethic in our students. Mr Prokopchuk and Ms Thompson became insightful and full time members of the house and I’m sure all the boys are thankful. The Rulers of Rogers House, Mr Thompson and Mr Snow, have led us through dark times when the house lost its grip, and somehow they have maintained its integrity. With the passage of time, students come and go, but the Duty Staff who stay and keep the culture of the house alive define what we will become. Values are passed down in Rogers House stating what it means to be a Rogers Boy: Kindness, Honour, and Brotherhood. Our boys have upheld the Roger’s legacy for another year and don’t show sign of losing it. Dylan Campbell, House Captain
