Senior Girls end league play with an exciting win

In their final league game of the season, the senior girls defeated Gulf Islands Secondary School in an exciting game (45-42). Solid defence, combined with improved ball movement, rebounding and success at the free-throw line (5 for 8) produced the win. Denesha Doman had a strong performance with 21 pts, hitting several key outside shots and continuing to drive to the hoop. Devan Young battled from end to end, rebounding and playing hard the entire game (12 pts). Siobhan Willow added 8pts. The senior girls also played well over the weekend at the Belmont Tournament capturing a 4th place finish. They defeated Churchill in the first game (46-38). Player of the game was Denesha Doman (15 pts). Siobhan Willow added (12 pts) and Devan Young (7 pts). In the second game against Spectrum, Brentwood played hard but was defeated by a more experienced team. Final score 32-66. Player of the game was Catherine MacDonald with 7 pts. Devan Young added 9pts, Denesha Doman 6pts. · In the last game against Nanaimo District Secondary School (NDSS) Brentwood continued to fight back but could not catch up with a final score NDSS 55 – BCS 37. Player of the game was Devan Young (13 pts), while Siobhan Willow also added 13pts, and Denesha Doman 8pts. The senior girls head to the North Island play-offs next weekend.
