Senior Soccer Invests Wisely
The Senior Girls’ Soccer team headed to Carihi Secondary School in Campbell River this past week to play in one of the top tier tournaments BC has to offer, the Investors’ Cup. Met with a tough opponent of Vancouver’s Notre Dame our first game in, we dug deep but unfortunately came up short in a 3-0 loss. The next game we faced-off against our island rivals, Glenlyon Norfolk. The game was formidable, and Brentwood held its own until a handball earned Glenlyon its only goal of the game. This would give them the win despite a terrific effort from goalkeeper Kendra S. After some much needed R&R at the hotel, the team had a delicious meal at Moxie’s where we terrorized the rest of the restaurant with some outlandish team-building activities. Day two of the tournament showed Brentwood more success, although the weather was much colder and wetter. Meeting Mark Isfeld for the second time this season, we managed to pull out our first victory of the tournament with Erin M and Karly D each finding the back of the net. With some momentum going into our final game against Surrey’s Panorama, Karly D found net again as she cinched us into a 1-0 lead. Panorama, however, fought hard and the game ended with a 1-1 tie. Penalty kicks were to decide the game. As Brentwood led the penalty kicks 4-3, Panorama was faced with their last shot. A beautiful save by Kendra S ended the game and Brentwood left the field victorious. Kendra S was awarded Tournament MVP, and Brentwood’s next game is against Kelsey Secondary on April 18th.
