Spooky Season has arrived! The Brentwood College campus is alive with ghosts, goblins, skeletons, and witches. Bushes turn into spiders, skeleton dogs eat human bones! The Crooks Hall walls are lined with 3D portraits of zombies or skeletons, or maybe both!? With the midterm break pushed back a week, this year students will get to enjoy Fright Week and Hallow’s Eve on campus. It is the first Hallow’s Eve on campus in years, so prepare to have a blast! Celebrations like these are always fun. Students and teachers alike laugh and scream together! COVID-19 may restrict some things, but certainly not the on-campus energy!

Fright Week at Brentwood is always fun and is full of spooky activities. There are scary Halloween activities to partake in every day during Fright Week! Evenings in McNeill’s might get chilling as there are sinister Halloween movies playing. House cohorts came down to the Foote Centre for Freaky Dodgeball on Saturday all costumed up and ready to compete.

Pumpkin carving filled Crooks Hall with colour and laughter as students and campus kids turned gourds into personalities! “Pumpkin carving was such a great bonding experience!” said Lorelei B, Hope ‘23. All the beautiful Jack O’lanterns now light up Campbell’s Commons.

Cake and cookie decorating competitions are always a fan favourite – the spookiest ones win! Sunday Brunch menu included eyeballs and monster brains! Yum! Halloween Trivia after dinner in the Crooks Hall: “In what century did trick or treating begin?”.

Dress up in black and orange, or maybe as a ghost while you make caramel apples during this spooky week. “A bunch of Hope girls are dressing up as dwarves!” said Anh Thy V, Hope ‘22.

The beloved Airband is on tonight. Who will win? Go watch it in your common room with your housemates and enjoy some delicious Halloween candy.

We will conclude Fright Week with House Halloween Scavenger Hunts/Treats. Some houses are doing in-house trick-or-treating to Grade 12 rooms, while others are watching scary movies in their common rooms.
