Sunday Tee Time – Remastered!

Whether it’s a Sunday or an afternoon during a spare block, the local Brentwood Disc Golf course is ready to help you burn off some steam! The course, referred to as “Pipelandia” by the UDisc app, was built by Mr Toby Collis Handford, Ellis Assistant Houseparent, Privett ‘15, and two of his friends. Pipelandia is a natural, quiet oasis built in the forest of Mill Bay by Brentwood’s B Field. It welcomes students, teachers, and community members alike.

Rated as moderate, it features exciting terrain and dynamic holes that will test the abilities of all disc golfers. TCH stated that “Disc Golf is a marriage between a man’s greatest tool, his hands, and a man’s greatest dream, flight” – a vision that captures the unique appeal of the sport.

I had the pleasure of playing the course as a beginner disc golfer, and found it to be exciting and technically challenging, requiring backhands, forehands, and the unique overhand “hammer”. While playing with Fraser L, Ellis ‘26, and Solena C, Alexandra ‘26 during C block spare, this course gave great competition and had a wonderful balance of each skillset required.

Fraser, a frequent disc golfer, after playing multiple rounds, expressed his gratitude for the course and the unique terrain it offers: “Thanks to TCH and his friends, a fun Sunday activity is now accessible as an alternative to the Kelsey Course!”

In previous years, there was only one course in the Mill Bay area, located at Frances Kelsey Secondary School – and this course was outside of Brentwood’s student boundaries. With the addition of Pipelandia, Disc Golf is now far more accessible to Brentwood students. After playing the course a few times, Solena stated that, “There’s something on the course for everybody, even beginners like me,” a testament to the versatility of this amazing course.

The Brentwood community appreciates the time the contributors to the course have volunteered to make it easy to follow and inclusive for everyone. Gracie B, Mackenzie ‘26, says that she’s “Excited to get a chance to play this course that so many people are raving about!”

The course is constantly being updated and maintained, currently featuring 15 unique and dynamic holes, with more planned in the future. It was an absolute pleasure to play Pipelandia, and hopefully, Brentwood students, alumni, and community members alike can experience it on their next trip through Mill Bay.
