Sun’s Out, Strikes Out: Hope-Privett Bowling!

After a busy week of classes, projects, and sports, Hope and Privett house were ready for some well-earned fun with a showdown at the annual bowling outing. The perfect mix of competition and laughter was exactly what everyone needed to unwind.

Although the weather was brisk and chilly, the theme for the evening brought nothing but sunshine energy: Beach Day! Decked out in vibrant tropical shirts, shorts, leis, and sunglasses, students loaded into the buses with excitement buzzing in the air. Soma F, Privett ‘27 comments, “The bus ride there was booming with energy as the Privett boys got hyped for bowling.”

At the bowling alley, most students scattered to grab snacks, lace up their shoes, or squeeze in a quick arcade game before the matches began. Each lane was packed with groups of students brainstorming team names: some were clever and chaotic, but they were hilarious!

Some students went for the power throws (ending up in the gutter at times) while others took a stable and calculated route that often scored strikes. Ava H, Hope ‘26 shares, “I created the perfect method for getting strikes (almost consistently) by using two hands and launching it towards the pins!” Laughter echoed every time a bowling ball spun the wrong way or nearly missed the pins, while cheers erupted every time a strike or a lucky hit occurred.

The annual bowling outing was not about who got the highest score; it was about the unforgettable memories, shared laughter, and the chance to bond with friends before the next busy week began. This would not have been possible without the help of our Houseparents: Ms Hedquist and Mr Rodrigues! Their efforts in planning and teamwork made us realize the joy of bonding between Hope and Privett. As Ms Hedquist says, “After a long night of taking care of some cheeky monkeys, I’m glad we got to see Hopelings and Privett boys have lots of fun together.”

As for the future, we cannot wait to see what strikes next in our lineup of Hope-Privett bonding activities!
