This year’s senior acting class decided to give the classic tale of Peter Pan a modern and spunky twist. Instead of a Victorian time period with fluffy night gowns and tailored clothing, the cast was decked out in modern dress and spoke colloquially. In essence, this year’s production was a combination of a classic tale mixed with the upbeat spirit of a 21st century teenager.

With talented performances from leads Joel W and Shelby M, Brentwood brought the classic story of Peter Pan to an eager and interested audience. Shelby’s unassuming Wendy was dainty and girly, but at the same time the glue that held all the lost boys together. Joel’s Peter Pan completely embodied the spirit of suspended boyhood and fear of commitment.

The production was strong on many fronts. Paired with the superb acting, there were spurts of intense and engaging dance numbers of the Amazons, lead by Jazleen D as the powerful Tiger Lily.

The lost boys and girls also gave noteworthy performances. From Savannah C and Riaan O’s dance moves, to Robin J’s hilarious rollerblade antics, the show was a complete success. Hilarious moments ranged from flying antics to full-on pirate battles, and there was truly never a dull moment on the stage.

As the audience watched in stitches, the show flawlessly progressed. Giant projections of alligators and funky music peppered the show, and gave the final touches to an amazing evening. Great job senior acting!
