The Return

As cold envelops the Island, and a silence falls upon Brentwood with no students left on campus over Winter Break, the rumble of suitcases, and returning friends, breaks the once peaceful quiet, and the joyous return is upon us!

Whether students were swimming on tropical beaches, skiing in the Alps, or seeing family members and celebrating over the holidays, we made our exciting return last Wednesday morning. After a break of three weeks, our students returned well-rested and ready to take on the rest of the school year. With so many events up and coming to look forward to like basketball and hockey Showcase games, and open houses, the term is looking very promising to be an action-packed and eventful one.

Kaitlyn T, Alexandra ‘25 remarks, “Over the break, I got to spend time with my family in Hawaii, but even though I am back to the cold, the best part of coming back is seeing all my friends, and capturing every last moment together in our final year.” And in the blink of an eye, term 1 is already done and term 2 is off and running. The magic of Brentwood is that, through all the studying for classes, challenging days in arts, and tough days at sports, the time flies by as Sarah D, Hope ‘25 comments, “The year has already been moving so fast, and just like that we’re almost halfway through the year.”

The return from a break can be very difficult sometimes because you can get used to sleeping in and not having such a busy schedule and being back with your family, but as Ruby M, Allard ‘25 states, “Brentwood has become my second family and coming back to school is like one big family reunion.”

This school provides a home away from home, and even though students are jam-packed with classwork and afternoon schedules, the Brentwood community supports the transition for all students coming back to school.

The campus feels alive and rejuvenated as the laughter of students fills the air. Although breaks can turn clocks around and sometimes be difficult, the rejoicing of the staff and students makes our campus feel like home again for all.
