The Show of all Shows – The Regatta Circus Art Exhibition

With Regatta, Brentwood’s biggest athletic event, upon us, the Brentwood Arts Department is putting its oar in. As it is done every year at Regatta, the art programs have collaborated in order to create this year’s exposition, the “Circus Arts Exhibition.” Each art student has been offered the chance to show skills whether it be in pottery, painting, or sculpting. Art teacher Mr. John Luna says that “Our idea is to create an interactive exposition in which students can be involved.” This is coming off of last year’s success with the show “The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party” when students in all art departments worked together to make a beautiful table around which the Grade 9s in Drama performed a marvelous scene from Lewis Carroll’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.” Inside the Visual Arts Centre, the show begins. Colorful paintings hang on the walls. The pottery class has also been hard at work getting ready on their pinch pots and creation of their bowls for the gallery, while the 3D Design class has been creating heads made of oil-based clay. One exemplary student is Bruno C, Whittall 18’ who says “This is a unique experience in which I can express myself.” To an audience of thousands! “The Circus” art exhibition will be in the Centre for Arts and the Humanities building. Visitors may view it during Regatta but student proctors will be available to talk about their work and show guests around on Saturday April 30th from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.
