To Sir With Love, From the “Seattle Kids”

Editor’s Note: For ten of the past eleven years either Ty Siceloff, Whittall ’07, or Katie Siceloff, Mackenzie ’13, residents of Seattle, have been boarding students at Brentwood. Getting from Seattle to Mill Bay, however, does not happen in a straight line. Given our spectacular geography (ocean, mountains, and islands) that trip of less than 100km takes at least five hours by car and ferry. If you have been lucky enough to fly “Siceloff Air” however, you are treated to a breathtaking flight over Puget Sound, the Olympic Peninsula, the Strait of Juan de Fuca, the Gulf Islands, the Malahat Mountain and the Saanich Inlet. Below is a letter to Mr. Robert Siceloff, who has been providing Brentwood’s Seattle area boarders beautiful and timely air transport to and from the school for ten years. Dear Robert, On behalf of all the “Seattle kids” we want to thank the Siceloff & Livingston families for 10 years of seaplane rides to Brentwood College School, for your generosity and selflessness in allowing all of us to invade your family “goodbyes” and private moments, for providing the communication that kept us all moving north on time after every break including your call “Passports please!” Buildings and parks and bridges should be named for people who are so kind to strangers. Your passion and dedication to the Brentwood experience is infectious and your Beaver N450P seaplane made travel so special for first time flyers to see the beauty of the great Northwest. You made leaving the comfort of our homes an outdoor adventure and Mill Bay feel like a suburb of Seattle. Expert pilot Mike Moore educated us on flight details and delivered us confidently to the Brentwood dock, with care, within one hour. Through all the bulging luggage, prom dresses, odd sized sports equipment, musical instruments and spontaneous guests we will miss and always be grateful to you for the “flying bus” from Seattle.
