Who Won?

Airband, always one of the highlights of the year, occurred Friday, October 29th. For arguably the most popular intehouse event, students are given approximately a month to mix music and then choreograph dances which are performed in the Killy Theatre with a full attendance of staff, students, and the judges panel. Categories include junior and senior as well as mixed for both categories. This gives students not only the opportunity to work together with their housemates, but also with their brother or sister house. “Airband gave us the chance to bond with the Whitall boys as with each practice the chemistry improved” observed Sophia PT, Alexandra ‘22.

The first step of the airband performance was the music. Students collaboratively worked within their respective houses to combine parts of different songs. Once completed, the music got checked by a BFA. Following approval, phase two of Airband began. A complex sequence of dance moves was then choreographed. For the next few weeks leading up to the event, you would then see all the multipurpose rooms occupied with students hard at work, perfecting their moves.

The night of the performances, students excitedly prepared themselves for the big moment. Some pulled off a last-minute practice while others calmly dressed themselves in matching outfits. The seats started filling up and tension was rising. Lights dimmed and the theatre erupted. Each performance kept students at the edge of their seats as the night flew by. “It was great to see everyone’s hard work pay off” added Finn S, Whittall ‘23. As the event came to a close and students headed back to their houses, there was only one thought on each student’s mind: who won?
