Crafting the Brentwood yearbook is no small feat. It’s a labor-intensive process that involves a highly dedicated team working tirelessly all year to capture moments over the entire campus. The Brentwood Yearbook Club possesses a lot of creativity, coordination, and genuine passion. As the 2023 Yearbook finds its way into the hands of students on campus, it’s important to recognize the process and effort that went into creating this project.

The Brentwood Yearbook Club is headed by Mr Ganley, English Teacher, Photojournalism Editor, and BEAT & Environmental Advocacy Co-Sponsor. Mr Ganley carefully handpicks and assigns students to fulfill essential roles in the creative process of the yearbook. Collaboratively, they establish deadlines and create a well-structured schedule to ensure a smooth and productive workflow. Ms Terra Rusman, the School’s Graphic Designer, also works tirelessly to ensure high quality photos and design creativity.

The Yearbook Captains, Chichi O, Allard ‘23, and Abby D, Allard ‘23 are crucial members of the Yearbook team. They ensure that everything is running smoothly and perform a lot of the vital photography. When asked about her role and responsibility, Chichi stated that, “When people think of the yearbook, they usually only think of the finished project. But what people tend to not know is every picture taken is intentional and every picture placed is intentional to ensure that we create a book that everyone is included in. The yearbook consists of three parts: photography, layouts and captions. They all go hand in hand to create the finished project. In the class, everyone on the team tries out all parts of the yearbook and some strive in one area more than others. It’s easy to run when there are reliable and hard-working people to work alongside”.

The most public aspect of creating the Yearbook is photography. During important events on campus, many students can be observed carrying cameras, capturing moments. The photography team works tirelessly to capture candid moments, major events, and special milestones. Yearbook photographers attend sports games, school performances, and other activities, striving to document every aspect of student life.

When asked about her role, Abby D, Allard ‘23, “The amount of work that is needed to create the yearbook is underestimated. After the yearbook is done, the yearbookers know the name of everyone in the school. The outcome of taking the class and putting in so much effort to create an unforgettable time capsule of the year is rewarding. Getting to see the product of an entire year of work’s outcome and enjoyment on the last day of school makes up for the late nights and hours spent on photography and graphic design. I couldn’t be prouder of the book we produced this year”.

Creating the Brentwood Yearbook is a remarkable endeavor that demands creativity, teamwork, and attention to detail. The dedication and passion of the yearbook team shine through in every page, capturing the essence of high school life and preserving precious memories that will be treasured by students and alumni alike.

With the book arriving earlier than normal this year, we hope everyone has lots of time to sign each other’s books to create lasting happy memories of ‘22-’23.
