The 2013-2014 school year has passed by, and Allard has seen another unforgettable ten months. It’s been a year filled with change, emotion, love and discovery. In true mermaid style every girl played a role in making it remarkable. Although we have outstanding athletes, musicians, and scholars, that isn’t what makes Allard great: it’s the love and support every girl has for her mermaid sisters. It’s the atmosphere that fills each room and the laughter that echoes in the halls. It’s Mrs. Carr being goofy in house meetings, Coen and Ivor bouncing on furniture, Mio running down the hall, secrets at Gwynn groups and Mr. Olszewski and Mr. Carr running away from us on nights like the Victoria Secret Fashion Show. Everything that happened this year, the good, the bad, and the ugly, we faced it together and that is what made us so much closer and stronger. From Fun & Games, to Airband, to Open House, the girls became a cohesive group. Welcoming all the newcomers this year was easier than ever. Swiftly we found our jive and everyone worked together to make the house the very best. All of the Prefects stepped up and I am so proud of them for everything they have accomplished this year. The duty staff gives their all, from Mrs. Reynolds kicking our butts, Mrs. Coull helping us with math and university counseling, Mr. Carr the only male duty staff to survive in our crazy house, and Foug for being our mentor. Ms. Weiss our intern also did a fantastic job. Mrs. Olszewski, our “granola mom” along with her two boys and Mr. O, open their doors to 67 girls daily. Mrs. “Mama” Carr, our ‘mom away from home’, welcomed us into her family alongside Mr. Carr, Aidan & Natalie. She gives her heart and soul to this house and will go down in history as the best Allard House Parent ever. We love her so much; all the Prefects will go on making her proud once we graduate. Mermaids, cherish these times; they are the best days of your life and will be gone before you know it. Always “lean on” your Allard sisters and never forget this place that gave you a chance to truly be youself. Grads, best wishes and keep in touch.
