Accessibility Act

Our Dedication to Accessibility and Transparency in B.C.

We believe that building an equitable organization starts with accountability. Brentwood College School fully complies with British Columbia’s provincial legislation, specifically the Accessible British Columbia Act and the Pay Transparency Act.

While you will find our latest public compliance reports published below, our commitment doesn’t end with a report. We actively apply these standards in how we hire, structure compensation and design our workplace and policies. We strive to continuously remove barriers and cultivate an inclusive environment for our employees and the public.

Accessibility Act

The Accessible British Columbia Regulation, under the Accessible British Columbia Act, came into force on September 1, 2022. These regulations identify schools as prescribed organizations, school districts, and independent schools will be required to have an Accessibility Committee, an Accessibility Plan, and a tool to receive feedback on accessibility by September 1, 2023. The goal of the act is to improve opportunities for people with disabilities and involve them in identifying, removing, and preventing barriers to their full participation in the life of the province.

Report An Accessibility Barrier

The ISABC has developed this barrier reporting form that allows members of the ISABC community to include information about their accessible experiences.  Responses can be anonymous, or a name and contact information can be provided if wished to be contacted.

Our Commitment to Pay Transparency

At Brentwood, our strength lies in our vibrant, dedicated community of educators, operational staff, administration and healthcare professionals who make our school a supportive home for our students. In alignment with British Columbia’s Pay Transparency Act, we are committed to fostering an equitable, open, and inclusive workplace where every member of our staff is valued and fairly compensated.

The Pay Transparency Act was introduced by the Province of British Columbia to help close the gender pay gap, promote equal pay for work of equal value, and provide clear insight into compensation structures across organizations. By publicly sharing our annual pay transparency metrics, we aim to uphold accountability, celebrate our diverse workforce, and continuously reflect on our compensation practices across all departments.

Understanding Our Report

Pay transparency reporting converts all payroll compensation into standardized hourly rate equivalents. Because an independent boarding school operates with a diverse staff – ranging from educators, administration and leadership roles to term-based co-curricular coaches and seasonal student staff – our reporting reflects unique operational structures across our campus.

Below, you will find our official provincial infographic alongside our comprehensive contextual report, which provides detailed insight into how our departmental roles, seasonal programming, and leadership structures shape our numbers.
