2013-2014, with new recruits, left the mighty Rogers’ bonds as strong as the wind behind our sails. We sailed through obstacles and shared laughter between 46 men. Though the year began with a meeting of unfamiliar faces, the first week ended with the seeds of friendships sown into everyone’s hearts and the year ended with a harvest of memories and bonds of fraternity. Our days filled with house jobs and inspections, we vacuumed, we dusted, we gave it our best. Sometimes we were not quite up to par, but we learned from our mistakes and made the best of it. Saturday No. 1 would always be a heart-skipping experience as we waited to see if your room passed or not, or wondered if dorm 7, 8 or 15 won best dorm. Whether you pass or fail, it’s always a relief to avoid guest inspectors! From Eco-challenge to Airband, during Interhouse events everyone on the ship assisted in every way. Some participated and some supported, but we would always enjoy the event regardless of the result. From sports, to arts, to academics, all of the crew contributed to the ship in one way or another. We filled our weekends with activities such as movie and bowling nights. Throughout the week we connect through sporting events, house breakfasts, and BBQs. Events on a Saturday night may be unpredictable: some might enjoy nature walks along the MT or playing unwinnable board games, but there are always the Snow Classics. We are chivalrous, courageous, and determined. We are members of a brotherhood that will last forever. The most important memories of MMXIII-MMXIV will not be Interhouse, but intrahouse, the special community of Rogers: how we all care for, respect, and understand each other — this unbreakable bond between us that makes us special.
