Summer Athletics

Many Brentwood athletes continued their active pursuits through the summer months. Here are some of their accomplishments: In wakeboarding, Mason S won the Canadian Nationals. Brendan S, Johnny M, and Casper P came third at the BC Summer games representing Vancouver Island in basketball. Rachel J came 3rd in Nationals in long jump! New students Sion G (7th) and Nairee P also competed in javelin. Jacob M competed in the kayak polo event at the Alberta Summer Games. Jacob also teamed up with Calder M and Teaghan W to complete the West Coast Trail in 5 days. In rugby, Jenn L, Brook N, Ciel AB and Avi S were all key members of the BC U18 rugby team that defeated Ontario in the final of the National Championships. In addition, Mckenna H won a silver medal as a member of the BC U16 team at the same event. Mr. Shane Thompson also coached the BC Provincial U18 boys’ team that won gold. In rowing, Elliot R placed 9th out of 26 pairs at the Junior World Rowing Championships in Hamburg, Germany. He was coached by our Senior Men’s coach, Ms. Robyn Amiel. At the Royal Canadian Henley, Alex R won a gold medal in the Under 17 Men’s 8+ while new students Yvonne-Georgia A and Sydney P represented Canada at the CanAmMex regatta where they won silver in the Junior Women’s four and eight. Congrats also to our Head of Rowing, Mrs. Debbie Sage who represented Canada at the Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China as an official umpire for Rowing Canada.
