Like a bat out of hell the Senior Boys Basketball team had their first set of games in over a month this past weekend as they took part in a tournament at Claremont Secondary in Victoria. The team showed some predictable sluggishness in their opening game against #3 AA ranked Lambrick Park and fell behind 13-0 early but rallied to take a small lead midway through the fourth. A few defensive lapses allowed a sharp-shooting Lambrick team to create some separation in the last 5 minutes and Brentwood came up on the losing end of a 62-53 decision.   In the second game, Brentwood faced a scrappy team from Enver Creek. The boys looked sharper offensively and went into halftime with a 16 point lead, despite a less than stellar defensive effort. Enver, however, would not go away and cut the deficit to 6 late in the game before a three pointer by Skyler R put the game out of reach and Brentwood earned a 58-48 win.   In the last game of the tourney, Brentwood faced Mt Douglas Secondary who was coming off some excellent recent results. In what was Brentwood’s best game of the tourney, the boys clicked on offense and hurt Mt Doug early in the paint then stretched them out with a barrage of threes. The boys ended up winning comfortably 68-39.   Coming up next is the Abby Snowball tournament where they will face some of the top AAAA teams in the province.  It should prove to be an excellent test for the boys.
