Showcase Hoops Harry Stags

Just days after Showcase Hockey, the Brentwood students crowded into the Woodward Sportsplex on Tuesday evening wearing their Brentwood gear to cheer on the senior basketball teams. About a tenth of the gym was occupied by Shawnigan students wearing yellow and black, but they were drowned out by the sea of kids in red. The Senior Girls team, despite falling behind 15-30 at the half, had a tight game with Shawnigan, pulling ahead in the final quarter to win 50-47. Petra J with some timely hoops and Avi S with some terrific defense and steals on the perimeter helped rally the comeback. Succeeding the girls, the Brentwood boys played an impressive game, which was a tight one until the last quarter. The game took a turn and the boys took control with a string of points in the final minutes which led to their 57-48 win. A jubilant gym and the ecstatic athletes celebrated their victories which also leave both teams in top spot in their Mid-Island league standings. Cecilia B, Allard ‘15
