Last weekend, Brentwood’s Junior Girls Basketball team journeyed to Vancouver to compete in the annual ISA (Independent Schools Association) tournament. They seemed to be cursed at first, as a member of the team fell ill and was unable to continue in the next two games. In the third game, yet another key player received a concussion as a result of her tenacity and dedication to rebounds. Nevertheless, the team played three arduous games concluding in one win and two losses, placing 5th. Each player was invaluable, with the ability to execute crucial plays, fast reflexes and, of course, good sportsmanship. Not all players could be recognized despite their efforts but game MVP awards went out Emma F, Alex ‘17, Zjaya D, Allard ‘19 and Caitlyn C, Hope ’17. On Tuesday the girls took away their experiences from the weekend tournament and used them to counter their opponents in their last game before February break. They proudly returned home after defeating Queen Margaret’s School with a final score of 49-17.
