Next month, Brentwood’s Model United Nations Club will be heading to New York City to participate in the National High Schools Model United Nations (NHSMUN) conference. Representing the Republic of Rwanda, Brentwood delegates will be part of committees such as DISEC and LEGAL. In preparation for the conference, on February 3rd, Rwandans Augustin Rusekampunzi and Anselme Hategekimana generously gave their time to provide knowledge of their home country. After sharing dinner with the Debate/MUN captains and coaches, Mr. Rusekampunzi and Mr. Hategekimana presented a history of Rwanda, an overview of current issues, and their views concerning the current state of the country. Delegates had the opportunity to ask their own questions about Rwanda concerning topics such as terrorism and the role of women in Rwandan society. We are very thankful to have met with Mr. Rusekampunzi and Mr. Hategekimana and we are looking forward to more NHSMUN preparation events in the upcoming weeks. Kevin D, Whittall ’15, Captain
