English Enrichment

Going to Brentwood without having English as their first language, ESL (English as a Second Language) students are sometimes a bit intimidated by the idea of going to a foreign country to learn and speak a new language. But Brentwood doesn’t forget about you. Brentwood offers different classes for individual learning and everyone is taken care of. One of those classes is ELE (English Language Enrichment), which provides a plethora of opportunities for every learner to improve their English writing, speaking, and reading in an environment outside of the subject-specific classroom.  Every once in a while we even head up to the coffee house to just have a nice conversation and some fun. It might look like this class isn’t serious, but it is exactly the opposite. Through these opportunities, we can really bring our English to the next level not just in academic situations, but also in social events. We even had a field trip to Craigdarroch Castle where we watched an old horror movie called The Changeling. It was a great experience and we all had a good time. “ELE is a class where I can do what I need to do and still have fun” said Kenshin O, Rogers ‘16. “Here, I can get the help I need and stay focused” quipped Camilla GQ, Allard ‘17.   We have all improved our English over the past months and we appreciate the help given to us by Ms. McCallum when we have an essay due or we need some drafting or editing help. We are all looking forward to the last few months of this amazing class. Ferdinand S, Rogers’17; Photo Lulu McCallum
