Dance: The Hidden Language of Youth

Dance: The Hidden Language of Youth

18 May 2015Anna P, Allard ‘17

A "Youth"ful performance and and inspired audience: after almost eight months of practice, Brentwood’s dancers performed on the Killy stage on May 7th & 8th.  The annual Evening of Dance, entitled ‘Youth’ –  was both inspiring and dramatic. It was a really emotional event for the audience and all the dancers involved, but mostly the Grade 12s, who will be graduating this year and therefore won’t be able to perform for the Brentwood Dance Program again. We were happy to see that the show had a great turnout from parents, students, staff and the Mill Bay community.  The Youth theme allowed a wide range of styles including hip hop, contemporary, ballet and tap. I want to give a huge thank you to all of the dancers, but specifically to those who did an amazing job choreographing their solos or duets: Lauren Y, Mackenzie ‘16; Brynn A, Hope ‘15; Kennedy G, Alex ‘15; Emma C, Alex ‘16; Rachel J, Hope ‘16; Allie W, Hope ‘16; Julia S, Alex ‘18; Caitlin W, Mackenzie ‘16; Benny JC, Mackenzie ‘15; Samantha P, Mackenzie ‘15; Devon W, Mackenzie ‘15 & Katlan S, Allard ‘16. I will always remember the great time I had in the Brentwood Dance Program, with such amazing personalities and fun rehearsals on stage!  Last but not least, I want to give a special thank you to Captain Sally S, Alex ‘15 and both Mrs. Blake and Mrs. Sam. This year would never have been the same without you! Thank you for your hard work, effort and dedication to making this year’s Evening of Dance so special.  To the Grade 12s, we wish you all the best for your future and don’t forget: just keep dancing!
