It is with great sadness that the school announces the passing of Ms Beth Melhuish. Beth served the school for more than 20 years as an English teacher, Houseparent of Gwynneth House, Yearbook editor, and Grad Class sponsor. Her legacy at the school also includes the Snowball Dinner and Dance, the Fabrications writing contest, the Lifers’ Dinner, and the International Club. A persistent advocate for the underdog, Beth served the Brentwood English Department and her students brilliantly as she worked wonders with many of Brentwood’s young men and women for whom English was a necessary evil, not a passion. Unbeknownst to many at the school, she was also a gifted painter and joyous grandmother. Beth’s passing is mourned by her children, Pippa, Bart Casey, Privett ‘87 and Naomi Larkins, Alexandra ‘98.
