Scrum On

Scrum On

Brentwood’s rugby coaching staff spent last Wednesday evening honing their scrummaging techniques under the instruction of Gary Dukelow, current forwards coach of the Canadian National Women’s Rugby 15 Team, silver medalists at last year’s Rugby World Cup. Along with coaches and athletes from the Cowichan RC and the University of Victoria, our sage team discussed the latest, best practices for safety and effectiveness in scrum and contact play. This past Wednesday the same ruck of coaches enjoyed a visit from John Tait, Head Coach of Canada’s National 7s Women’s team, who recently qualified for the Rio Olympics and won the PanAm Games. John reviewed lineout procedures. Rugby practices will begin tomorrow for athletes from Grades 8 to 12.
