A Friendly Start for Field Hockey

A Friendly Start for Field Hockey

Brentwood College School hosted the 16th annual Friendship Cup Tournament last weekend. It was split into two divisions: AA and AAA (held at Shawnigan Lake School). With very little practice time under their belts, the teams took to the field and learned by trial and error. Recruiting six of our top juniors (Sophie F, Sofia G-P, Valerie G, Brylee M, Jemma O, & Rebecca S) Brentwood entered two teams.

The start of the tournament consisted of a lot of player movement for BCS. It was about finding out where each player excelled. The girls played hard, with minimal breaks, no matter where they were put on the field. By Saturday, the teams started to take shape. Competition was tight with Brentwood losing close matches to Little Flower Academy (1-0) and SMUS (2-0).  That said, the 1st XI had a convincing win over GNS (3-0) and the 2nd XI tied GNS 0-0.

We couldn’t be more proud of the hard work and effort put in by each player. The Friendship Cup was a great start to the season.

The next competition for the 1st XI is the Sr. ISA Championships in Vancouver. The coaches are excited about the season to come.
