Senior Soccer Makes Mark at Islands

Senior Soccer Makes Mark at Islands

The Senior Boys Soccer team travelled to the Islands Championship at the University of Victoria Nov. 9th & 10th during the midterm break. A number of the Grade 12s, unfortunately, were away on the Eastern Canada University Tour.
Fortunately, we picked up some of the junior boys to augment the squad with Casper P, Oliver B, Sion G, & Griffin RF all giving a good account of themselves.
Determined tackling with some flair in front of goal made us a match for anyone – we didn’t lose a game throughout the tournament.
Needing a win to qualify for the Provincial Playoffs, we could only muster a 1-1 draw in the final match against Mark Isfeld from Comox. Goals were contributed by Tyler D, Breno C, Bruno C (2), and Casper P. A free kick by Bruno C, delivered like a laser to the top corner from 25 meters out, was a thing of beauty. The boys can be proud of their efforts and the gritty approach.
With a good portion of our Grade 11s returning for next season, combined with the reigning Island Champs from Grade 10 juniors, we should have another strong season in 2016.
