Last Saturday, the Brentwood Junior A Boys Basketball team hosted two exhibition games, inviting teams from Oak Bay and Carihi Secondary. The Brentwood boys have had a strong start to the season, sporting a 6-0 record, including a huge rout of neighbouring Shawnigan Lake School just a few days prior.  The first game was against Oak Bay. Brentwood was familiar with this team having played them in last year’s Vancouver Island Championships. Oak Bay came out very aggressive on defense, but Brentwood got out to 12-2 start and played with good energy the rest of the way. Whenever Oak Bay made a run, a counter run was always made. Brentwood won the game 67-43. The team was led by Olamide O who had a career high 18 points off the bench, including a putback buzzer beating layup to end the first half. Brendan S chipped in 17 points and Nathan P finished with 15 in a dominant win for the team.  Brentwood faced off against Carihi in the last game of the day. The two teams had battled in a tournament the previous year, where Brentwood came out as the victor, however, Coach Sullivan stressed that they were a good opponent and that our team needed to come out with the right mindset and the same intensity as we had against Oak Bay. After a sluggish start, the team took Coach’s words to heart and came out much stronger. The game ended with a score of 64-28 in Brentwood’s favour. Brendan S, Nathan P, and Casper P all had 16 points to lead the team.  This was Brentwood’s final game play for 2015. The team looks to carry their success into the new year in January.  Olamide O, Privett ‘18
