A Notable Night

The Grade 8 class sat quietly in their seats waiting to receive their homework assignment. We all knew what was coming: Night of the Notables. Some were excited, some were terrified, and others didn’t know what to expect. But by the end of the lesson, we all knew what had to get done. Throughout weeks of preparation for the big night, with many tears, some of joy, others of pure stress, a plethora of meetings with Mrs. Patel, and lots of monologue reading, we were ready. On the big night, the Grade 8’s stood anxiously behind their tables, with all their props in front of them, waiting for the clock to turn to 6:15 pm; when it did the room was instantly packed with audiences members drawn into the truly magnificent stories being told.
