This past Friday, a group of Brentwood teachers took time away from classes to learn more about the way children learn from one of the world’s leading researchers in the field, Russell A. Barkley, Ph.D.  Dr. Barkley is an internationally recognized authority on attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD or ADD) in children and adults. He has specialized in ADHD for more than 35 years and is currently Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics at the Medical University of South Carolina. His official website is www.russellbarkley.org

Dr. Barkley was available via a webinar and he delivered a series of lectures over the course of the day that gave us new insights into this condition as well as some proven strategies to help students in our classes. This form of Professional Development is a very green (and cost effective) way to help keep our teachers informed of the latest developments in educational theory and practice.

The group will be summarizing and presenting what they learned to the rest of the faculty next term and, meanwhile, the lectures are available via the web for a further 30 days.
