A Sobering P.A.R.T.Y.
On November 13, a third of Grad ’14 was invited to the Cowichan District Hospital to attend the P.A.R.T.Y. (Prevent Alcohol and Risk Related Trauma in Youth) Program.
We toured several departments of the hospital, following the path of a trauma patient, starting at the site of the accident through to the trauma room, where Aidan C had volunteered to act as the injured victim.
Other presentations included a drive-safe talk given by a RCMP officer and personal stories told by two victims who had been permanently disabled by car accidents. This was a very valuable learning experience and was definitely worth the time.
A big thank you to the nurses, parents, and volunteers for taking time out of their busy days to run this program, and to Mrs. Felix who organized our participation. The rest of Grad ’14 will experience the program later in the year.
