To Give is Priceless
The Holidays are a time for the celebration of generosity and family. At Brentwood, our community is teeming with love. Everyone parts for the holidays with tearful goodbyes and hugs and waves. In such a boisterous and blessed place, we can forget that not everyone is so lucky.
Every year, for the past decade, Mackenzie House has provided Christmas gifts for a family in need. When you are losing your home, and you have no money to provide your family with gifts, Christmas can be a very dark time. Mack House aims to change that, and foster a little hope by providing gifts.
This year Mack wrapped up presents for a family in Cobble Hill. The father of the family recently became disabled and lost his job. He is now unable to provide for his family. The mother is a stay-at-home mom with 6 children.
Nurse Decker, aided by Mack girls Grades 9 through 11, went to Duncan to pick up specially selected gifts for each member of the family. “The girls knew exactly what to get for the family,” Nurse D. says of the trip.
Once purchased, all the gifts were wrapped and placed under the Mackenzie tree, ready for delivery. The generosity of the Brentwood community also provided a small TV, DVD player and movies to be bought.
Mackenzie hopes that this will bring spirit and light to the family during their Christmas celebrations. It’s the least we can do.
