The Brentwood Musical: Reaching New “Heights”
As the winter winds blow across the Brentwood campus, things are heating up in the Performing Arts department as the Musical Theatre performers prepare for the showcase extravaganza of the year: The Brentwood Spring Musical.
This year the stage is being set for a new Broadway phenomena, the upbeat, Manhattan-centered “In the Heights”.
The set is finished and perfected, the performers have been busy at work assisted by Ms. Blake, Mrs. Widenmaier and Mr. Newns, learning and perfecting the many singing and dancing numbers. Backstage, Mr. Armitage and his Theatre Production classes are assisting intensely to make for a polished show.
The musical follows the intertwining stories of members of the upbeat multicultural Washington Heights neighborhood in suburban New York, with a fusion of comedy, hip-hop and energy that will leave the audience buzzing.
Like its highly reviewed predecessors (think “Phantom” and “Les Mis”) the show will run for six days, and is annually attended by friends and family of the Brentwood community, as well as many residents of the Cowichan Valley. Be assured that you can look forward to a great show!
The show opens this evening and runs until March 9th.
Please see http://tgb.brentwood.bc.ca/ for tickets.
We hope to see you all there!
