Double the Cooking
The Food Services staff at Brentwood is exceptional. Preparing meals every daily that meet nutritional needs and fulfill all of the students’ and staff’s hungry tummies, the denizens of the kitchen are nothing less than amazing.
Feeding an entire student body three meals a day (plus snacks), is no easy task. Now try feeding the mass of people who arrive during the Brentwood Regatta.
That’s a lot of spaghetti.
Curious as to how everything works behind the scenes, I took a stroll over to lovely Crooks Hall to have a chat with the exquisite women and men of the dining hall.
Doubling their numbers during the Brentwood Regatta, the dining hall staff expect to feed an additional 600 people each day, which means more 1000 people will go through Crooks Hall tonight. Wow!
When asked how much more food they were making, I was welcomed by light chuckles and big smiles. “A LOT! You never know how much those rowers are going to eat!”
Under the guidance of Food Services Manager Renee Wilson and Executive Chef Sean Napier, the Food Services department meets everybody’s dietary needs and ensures that everybody leaves the dining hall feeling nice and full.
On the menu? Spaghetti and meatballs, and fettuccine alfredo. Yum.
Seconds anyone?
