Allard
Allard House had a spectacular year! From Airband performances, to late night chats, and becoming this year’s Interhouse Champions, Allard has powered through thick and thin as a unit. 28 newcomers passed through our welcoming doors for Orientation this past September. Three more joined us midyear, and felt immediately at home with their Allard sisters, as if they’d been here since the beginning. After performing the Haka at Interhouse Fun and Games, the “Dream Team” was established, and we couldn’t wait for more challenges to come. Allard is home to over 60 girls, but is one of the most tightly-knit groups of girls I’ve ever seen. We bond over just about anything, especially food, which is why Gwynn Groups and our Rogers-Allard movie nights are such a hit. The girls made their way through fundraisers, artistic performances, athletic competitions, and two rounds of grueling exams with poise and grace. Allard House couldn’t run smoothly without the help of our awesome house staff. Endless thanks go to Ms. Fougner, Mrs. Reynolds, Mrs. Coull, and Mr. Carr for keeping us in line all year. Our Resident Assistant, Miss McCallum, was a huge help, swooping in when Mrs. Olszewski was out of the house having her second baby boy, Ivor. Mama O still played a large part in the house, doing as many duties as possible, telling stories, and gracing the foyer with her mandolin and lovely voice. And last but certainly not least, our Houseparent, Mrs. Carr. Mama C, you have once again touched our halls with your open-minded, kind, vivacious personality. You have filled the void as our mom away from home, and we will never forget your love and compassion. Mermaids, never forget who you are: lend a helping hand, keep the traditions alive, and enjoy your time here. Grads, you’ve been my sisters for years. Keep in touch, and best of luck. And to everyone else out there who has made Allard special, you’re the best. Allard House for life, Mermaids forever. Farewell, Allard. It’s been a slice. Michelle Mazzarella, Allard House Captain
