As George R.R. Martin once said, “A harp can be as dangerous as a sword in the right hands.” On Saturday, November 16th, Brentwood’s Sabrina W, Mackenzie ’14, debuted her harp with the 50 piece Cowichan Consort Orchestra in Vincenzo Bellini’s overture from the Opera Norma and two songs from Cowichan conductor and composer, Robert Mari. Sabrina, from Grand Prairie, Alberta, has been playing for seven years. Her piano teacher at the time also played the harp and was the first to introduce her to this instrument. Sabrina also plays the piano and saxophone. She has won various awards over the years for her musical excellence including the RCM Grade Six Medal in 2012 with the highest mark in Alberta. Sabrina came to Brentwood in 2012 as a new Grade 11. She has showcased all three of her instruments and also her singing abilities in many of Brentwood’s musical concerts over the past year.
