Albert Einstein observed that “pure mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas.”

On Thursday February 20th, more than fifty Brentwood students started off their morning by challenging twenty-five arduous questions written for the most keen mathematics students in Canada. Grades 9, 10, and 11 mathematicians participated in different rankings of the Waterloo Math Competition including the Pascal, Cayley and Fermat.

The University of Waterloo offers the best known series of mathematics contests for Canadian high school students. Individuals who perform well on these contests will be recognized on an honor roll, be awarded plaques and cash prizes, and may be invited to a mathematics conference held at the University of Waterloo.
Brentwood hopes to continue on this yearly tradition and keep the curiosity of our keenest math students flowing.
