One day until opening night for the cast of Agatha Christie’s renowned mystery-thriller. Backstage, tensions are running high, but certainly not as high as it will be in the house where creepy characters, electronic-organ music and lots of shrieking will keep the audience on the edge of their seats. The cast has been working very hard in the theatre for the past three weeks to bring this production to you all the way from 1940’s England. Each of us plays a guest who has been invited to the island by a mysterious host. Seriously though, don’t look up the ending before you go! Brentwood has blocked all related Google searches anyway because it’s simply too exhilarating and distracting. Backstage, between taking swigs of watery apple juice, smoking fake cigarettes, throat chopping and playing really immature games of telephone, we have fine-tuned our characters through in-depth notes from Ms. Quinton and Ms Klepl. The boys have benefitted from the makeup lessons; after they stopped crying during eyeliner application and learned the name “foundation” for “the weird face goo”, they can finally call themselves real men. Don’t pretend you don’t spend ages making seductive faces at yourselves in the mirror, boys (Matt G I’m looking at you!) We’re honestly all so excited to share this play with you, Brentwood. So far, we’ve been graced by the calming and refreshing presences of our talented seamstress Sally, Erin V, our hair stylist, and our makeup experts Mrs. Patel, Mrs. Broere, Mrs. Childs & Ms. Weiss. Along with the whole crew, Morgan Davis, our exceptional stage manager, deserves a huge applause for her diligent and patient work. Resident ESL cast member Pippa K deserves a shout-out for her peculiar interpretations and impromptu sneezes, and if you are a transvestite looking to buy a used car, Joseph (sorry, Josh S) is your man (woman?). Emma DP’s character, a Mormon spinster who “doesn’t touch alcohol”, hasn’t fallen far from the tree. Joking aside, this play will be Christie-licious and Agath-awe inspiring!
