Don’t Get Mad, Get Even

On Saturday, April 12th the Brentwood campus buzzed with excitement; it was the annual Brentwood vs Shawnigan rugby tournament. Parents, coaches and students alike gathered on the field adorned with school spirit to support their side of the rivalry. The girls came out and gave everything they had against Shawnigan who were freshly off tour. Back and forth, up and down the field, both teams threw their bodies into rucks and tackles but were unable to score a single try leaving the first half at a draw. Coming out in the second half, directly from the kickoff, Brooklyn N had a spectacular run bulldozing the girls in her way allowing Nambi M to score the first try of the game; however several injuries weakened our lead and although we contended until the very end, the victory went to Shawnigan. This game was great development for the team early in the season. It showed the players and coaches what needs to be improved on for future success to even the series.
